●THE TRIBAL PROJECT○

My 3rd tribal project tribe is
The Huli Tribe, Papua New Guinea

They are one of the biggest tribes in Papua New Guinea, numbering over 250 000 people.

Known for striking face paint and also wearing wigs in a mushroom shape, grown by virgin boys for 18 months (very expensive)
They also use the feathers of the bird of paradise to decorate their wigs(poor things)

They live near the rivers and it's tradition to wet their hair with fern 3 times a day.

They usually pay in pigs and are also used to pay bride price to the family.

I had so much fun with this piece, half sleeve done over 2 long days.

My 2nd tribal project tribe is
The Korowai Tribe, Papua New Guinea
The last ever cannibal tribe.

They number about 3000-4000 people. Still using stone axes to chop down trees, they build amazing tree houses as high as 114 feet above the ground, protecting them from rival clans,arson attacks, mosquitos and evil spirits.

A core believe about demons,possession and death is tied to the tradition of cannibalism in which the bodies are eaten by the families who suffered from the black magic of those accused of being a male witch,also known as Khakhua.

This is my interpretation of this interesting tribe.

This project was done over 3 days!

●THE TRIBAL PROJECT○

So, finally made a start to my Tribal Project and what better tribe to kick it off with than the Bushmen from South Africa, my home :) Very peaceful tribe,been around for over 100 000 years! Current population of about 90 000 people.

Hunter-gatherers tribe,known for their respect for nature,animals and of course their amazing rock art/paintings. 
They also use toxic beetle larvae to poison their arrows for hunting purposes.
The poison arrows can be lethal even after a year, that's how potent it is.

So in this piece (Done over 3 days), I brought a bit of that in to represent them as a tribe.

I thoroughly enjoyed it. I will be doing more of these, this is just the beginning!
